The Eugenics of Social Darwinism

Social Darwinism is the mistaken concept that attempted to adapt to Charles Darwin theory of natural selection and operate in the human society. Natural selection implies that there are genes that are stronger and healthier than others, but in this case it is applied to the social levels, which are the poor and the rich.  The goal for this concept is to eliminate the poor and their “unfit” genes.  It is also known as eugenics, which is a program that abolishes the “undesired”, thereby society could create a better outcome of generations to come.  Anglo white people would use this idea and begin an exploitative form of business where workers were poorly paid and overworked, while the higher class would get richer.  The rich were against policies that required donating to public schools and other foundations that could benefit the poor. But they were opposed to do accordingly because it meant prolonging their “poor genetics”.

This theory was distorted by many societies in past generations.  One example is Hitler who used these ideas and integrated them into Nazism.  He created this diversion or justification to kill millions of Jews during the World War II, or also known as the Holocaust, to exterminate, eliminate what he believed was a weaker and insufficient race with inferior genetics.  Another example is the colonialism, which is to conquer weak countries or lands and annihilate the natives.  This affects the natives and their whole life, but for the conquer it enriches and strengthen their county.

Social Darwinism is misused to justify political, economic, ethical and moral issues, imperialism, racism, capitalism and abusive behavior against a different races and social statuses.
